A productive way to waste time

I have a confession... I have a new time waster... but this one is productive! It is the website PINTREST. It is a website where you can create categories and file all your favorite things.Anything that is on the web can be saved here. Everything from your favorite websites, recipes, helpful tips or crafty ideas... just to name a few. You can even follow your friends 'pins'. It is a fun way to keep track of what others are enjoying and to borrow ideas from others. In the past few weeks I have used the phrase ... "Did you pin it...?" or "did you see that pin...?" or "Check out my crafty pin board... I have something pinned there that would be great for..."

This is exciting for me because I have bookmarks saved all over the place. Now they are all in one place. I can be on any computer at any time and locate them. I dont have to have my computer or email it to myself or anything else.

One of the other fun things are the names of Pin Boards. Some people are just so darn creative... not me. As I have been pinning I have tried to be a little original with my titles... but all in all have failed. Oh well. Its fun to me.

Here are a few of the things that I have 'pinned' lately that I thought I would share.
This is from my YUM board. Yep, that's right... a board dedicated to food. Yummy food that I want to make some day. Some of which I have.

Don't these look delish? I think they would be perfect for a cookout appetizer. A beautiful summer treat.

Made this! It was heavenly. There are still leftovers in my fridge... or there were. My wonderful hubs ate the last of the lettuce today...

Isn't this beautiful? To make it patriotic I thought about adding strawberries between the layers and then decorating the top with blue berries and strawberries.

Is any one else as obsessed with black beans as I have been lately. I love them. I am constantly looking for new ways to make them. I even made black bean hummus... delish!

How can anything this ewwwwie and gooooie not make your mouth water. I think this might be a midnight snack for the hubs and I one weekend... maybe this weekend...

The next board is called : Never fully dressed with out a smile. Yes its true... I believe that your attitude really makes how you look... but it helps to have a good wardrobe to go with that smile.

Everything about this outfit screams fall and sophistication. Elegant yet... comfy. I love the boots and the black dress... is it possible that brown and black can indeed coexist? I think that yes, in this case it can. Seeing that the brown is very light. And the jean jacket... Thank the Lord someone else sees them as fashionable!! I've been wearing one with everything for YEARS... and it has finally caught on.

Yes this is Mrs. Katie Holmes... can you believe she is still married to that nut job? Ugh... anyways... this was the inspiration for my new haircut. I could put a picture of my head next to hers and I would practically look like the same person... yes, I've quit eating and lost 50 lbs to accomplish this look.... NOT! My hair looks nothing like this! Not even close! I'm fairly frustrated...  however, I how it might resemble it when it grows out a bit.

This screams "BEAUTIFUL FALL DAY" to me! I must add turquoise whenever possible. And I also MUST get myself some brown boots... perhaps flats though... let me know if you know where I should get them. Perhaps I will search Pintrest to see if I can find some.

Hello my name is Heather and I'm obsessed with all things turquoise! I'm ok with that... its a beautiful color. This would be my go to spring outfit... I must start looking now.

My next board is called "Lets get Crafty"... well yea... its all things crafty that I want to make... you know... when the house is done, and the kids are grown, and I retire.

I hate... HATE .... HATE my coffee table at home... but this one would be just lovely.

Crocheting with old sheets... SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! Brilliant. I could even see myself buying some cheap low quality sheets and dying them...

How simple... yard of material... cut arm holes. I'm still wondering why I haven't done this yet. Perfect for summer.

I have the ugliest ottoman ever in the history of owning ottomans! This would be just dandy... once the walls are painted... its happening.

Going on my Christmas list this year along with the newest Iphone, a trip to Washington DC, a new car, a maid and a pedicure will be a sewing machine. How can you get enough of this skirt... I would like one in black, brown, yellow, turquoise, orange, and probably magenta!

The last board I will share with you is called "Somewhere over the rainbow"... it is my dreamland board. It is for the day when the hubs and I get to make the announcement that we will be three. For the day when my pups move down from the number 3,4,& 5 spot in my life. For the day when I'm not sleeping, not eating right, not working out and dreaming of my life before having someone demand my constant attention. I could go on and on... but here are the precious things I have found... and fallen in love with. Each and every time I pin something to this board my heart skips a beat, I often find myself day dreaming and thinking of names or what they will look like... currently... my heart is racing... just at the thought of ...'somewhere over the rainbow...'

I have dreams of my little boy's room being decorated in Monsters. It will frighteningly fantastic!!

Could there be a sweeter little girls room? Soft and delicate and sparkly! Love.

I love the creative ways that people are photographing babies now. I think this is beautiful and symbolic. I love how the mom is wearing the same shirt and hold her her hands around the baby the same way she was holding her tummy.

Dear Jesus - Please give me a little boy... I must have this photo somewhere in my collection. Also, make him as handsome as his daddy! With blue eyes that will melt my heart!

With that my friends, I leave you. I apologize for the addiction that I have caused in your life. I hope and pray you do not hate me for this. If you need a request then find me on facebook and send me your email address and I'll send you one.

Happy Pinning!

tonight..

Tonight my husband is inside busting up the tile in our bathroom. The guy who is putting our marble shower in is coming on Friday and we need all the tile out by then. Therefore, my husband gets to play with power tools and sweat and grunt and spit and stuff... therefore I'm sitting on my back porch watching the dogs chase each other around the yard and drinking a glass of wine. The hubs did come to me about 15 minutes into using the jackhammer device with a bloody lip... apparently a tile jumped up and gave him a punch in the mouth. I don't think the hubs minded though, he was back at it in no time. I am pretty sure that guys don't consider it a real 'project' unless there is an injury involved.
Because of the noise level inside I am outside with glass of wine and computer having a time out. My attitude has been stinky tonight.

Time to be random...
This is my view... yes that is Pintrest. I'm obsessed. I love it.
In sad news my beloved Mac has to go to the Apple Doctors this weekend.
I keep getting the lovely 'beach ball' anytime I do anything... It is not a fun process. Luckily I have Apple Care and this will not cost us a penny... or this would not be happening. I'm sad. I'm frustrated. But I'm also grateful.

I cut my hair a few weeks ago... about 6 inches. I'm still adjusting to it but all in all I love it.
The earrings in this picture are now divorced. While having dinner with friends tonight, I realized that one of them was missing... we have been friends for a long time and it is sad to not have them as a pair anymore. :(

Its so muggy here. I'm sitting on my porch at 9:15 at night and I'm sweating. It is SICK. I'm so tired of sweating... but not tired enough to wish for the winter we had last year. I will take this heat any day.

I am in desperat need of a pedicure. Before I was married... this was a usual treat to myself. However, now that I live under a "budget" there just isnt the money for them. I'm ok with that... until I look at my toes. They are very sad looking.

This is my first summer in 10 years as 'white'! Typically by now I am a beautiful 'no tan lines bronze' color. It is beautiful. However, my husband isn't keen on skin cancer being in our future... so therefore... I'm white and splotchy.

My husband just asked me if I am going to shower tonight... I think he has seen the sweat pouring off me out here... haha.
I guess that was also my clue to get moving. Its hot and I need to get ready for bed. I was up way to late last night taking in the storm. It was beautiful.

Thanks for listening to the rambles of my mind right now... maybe its the heat, maybe its the wine... maybe it is just how I am. :)

Its only been a year...

Its only been a year...

But here are some of the things I have learned over about marriage...

  1. Its not about being right or wrong... its about coming to an agreement.
  2. What worked when you were single... doesn't work now.
  3. When change happens, so does chaos.
  4. We will rarely have the same ideas about something... and his ideas might be better than mine...
  5. Quality time looks different for everyone
  6. Fully depend on God... not my husband. My husband is human and will let me down... God wont.
  7. Its never too late to say "I'm sorry!" but ONLY say it if you mean it.
  8. Sometimes the best times are the unplanned times
  9. TRUST your husband... he really does want what is best for me.
  10. Surround yourselves with family and friends who love the Lord... and will keep you on that track.
  11. Laugh Laugh Laugh Laugh... find a reason to laugh together
  12. Know each others buttons... and avoid them.
  13. Homecooked meals always taste better when a good conversation is taking place.
  14. Submission is not about being walked over... its about RESPECTING my husbands plans.
  15. Its ok to be right, and to stand up for what I feel... if it is done respectfuly
  16. Be spontaneous when you can... it adds to the fun.
  17. Don't start a fight right before bed... it makes for a horrible nights sleep.
  18. Brag about your husband... others need to know he is wonderful!!
  19. ALWAYS communicate! Never stop! Always talk about what the next step is and how you are feeling about the process. If you keep it bottled up ... you will explode over something stupid.
  20. Find time together as often as you can... even if it means turning off the phone, saying no to friends, skipping small group, or running away from town for the day or weekend.
So after a year... these are the things I have learned. I'm sure I'll double this list in the next year... we are still going through some growing pains, but I'm loving the process and really enjoying getting to know him more and more everyday!

I'm linking to Kelly's Korner, go over and visit.

today...

(Heads up ... I'm going to ramble. But I'll throw in some pictures for entertainment... I apologize... its been that kinda day!)

  • We have officially taken over the house! It is full of our stuff (yes I actually doubted that we could fill this place with the things we have... but it is FULL!)
  • I am currently eating broccoli and cheese soup at home for lunch. I have a cold and it makes me feel better. It also makes me miss my best friend, who quit our relationship about this time last year. I'm working on a post about that, but until then, I'll eat my soup and enjoy the sweet memories we had together.
  • We have spiders... nasty mean ugly spiders. The kinds known as 'brown recluse'! They are EVIL!! I hate their stinking guts and I want them all to DIE! Apparently ALL houses in the Ville have them... they just usually arn't as well seen as ours have been. We are getting this under control.
  • Our sewer backed up 6 days after signing our contract! Our hot water heater is also going out. And did I mention we have spiders? But I love this house!! It is amazing... really... I'm not being sarcastic!
  • I'm drinking water like I'm addicted to it. Seriously... I could float the Titanic with the water I have drank in the past two days. More water means more trips to the bathroom. Therefor on my 3rd trip last night, I became very grateful that we have a bathroom in our bedroom!
  • My father in law comes this weekend to help with some more 'home repairs'... I love that term... 'home repairs' - it means we can actually... REPAIR something!!

This is the hubs and I with our Realtor and the previous homeowner. He is a precious precious man. But he likes to say 'damn' and 'hell' a lot. And even though I can be overheard muttering such profanities at times... it shocks me when I hear it from him...

Andrew and some friends painted the ceilings for us... yes... that is WHITE up there... I lost that fight, but it looks lovely and I'm content with it.

Andrew's family came to help us. His sister made a trip all the way from St. Andrews to help us move in, wasnt that sweet of her. Alright... she didnt come just to help... but she did make us one of her many stops!

Our first lunch at the new house was my 'specialty' sandwiches and fruit!! It was quite enjoyable!

The weekend we were moving into the house... we dog sat our favorite boxers. They were so well behaved and got lots of extra special treatment that our stinky hound dogs didnt get. I love these dogs!!

I broke the first dish in our new house... it was a big bummer. These are my favorite glasses... oh well. It had to happen sometime.

July 4th I made sour dough pancakes and they were YUMMMY! (that reminds me... I gotta feed my dough!!) Andrew has this unique ability to get the most awkward pictures of me!

This is Aiden, you can read all about him here.

Around 10 am on the 4th we decided to have some of our favorite friends over for dinner... note that these are just SOME of our favorites, if we would have invited everyone... there would have been NO room.

These guys crack me up. We have lots of fun when we are with them. Their little girl turns 1 this weekend and is my BFF!

Ryan and Andrew work together and his wife is going to be teaching school this fall. Their little guy Aiden is 6 months old and so much fun!!

I was taking the pictures so Andrew decided he needed one with my food and his...

Josh and Ann from our small group!! These guys are so much fun! Last winter they came and rescued us from our house in the midst of being snowed in.

Me and my love! This guy makes my day!!

Us with our realtor in front of the house with the SOLD sign.

My dessert for the past 2 nights chocolate banana shake!! DELISH!

Andrew's dessert - a little frozen yogurt COVERED in fruit. I was MUCH happier than he was after dessert time!

OH Watermelon!! This is what Summer is all about...

“A house is made of walls and beams; a home is built with love and dreams.”

We have a home.
There was a bank transaction, a few signatures and the hand off of keys ... and the house is ours! As soon as we left the bank (after getting the water switched) we went to our new home.We marveled in it. We dreamed! We cherished the moment. Then we left... the 'old man smell' was getting to us!

We got the ceiling painted on Saturday and Sunday. That was fun... I helped 'cut in'. That takes more time and skill than rolling the ceiling. Andrew got to roll, he is such a slacker. HA! Just kidding!! He is going to kill me for that. He the hard part of rolling ! He did great... and didnt complain at all. I know his neck and back must have been killing him. He is such a hard worker. I'm very proud of our ceilings. OH what color are they?? They are Ceiling White. We had quite the debate over this. I wanted them to be 1/2 the color of the walls... but he put his foot down (when someone offered to give us Ceiling White) and said that we will be JUST fine with white ceilings. So like a good wife I backed down... I've been told before to 'pick my battles' and so I did just that. I'm sure there will be another one in the next few days worth fighting.

On Monday my favorite person (even though I didn't meet her face to face) came to the house. The cleaning lady. She did a fabulous job. Our house no longer had an 'old man smell' to it. It was wonderful. Then my next favorite person came along... the carpet cleaning man! The carpets were so soft and fresh when we came by last night. I fell in love. Nothing feels better than walking on soft clean carpet.
We both soaked the moment in... knowing this is the VERY LAST TIME our carpets will ever feel that way again.
“Home is the place where it feels right to walk around without shoes”

After we took in the cleanliness of the house we decided to pray over the house. We wanted to set a special time to do this, but decided that this might be the last time we have 'time' to do it. We walked from room to room praying over the things that will happen there.
In the living room we prayed for :
  • The small groups that will be held there
  • The interactions of friends
  • The memories made with family
In the kitchen and dinning room we prayed for:
  • The meals that will be prepared
  • The goodies made for others
  • The conversations that happen over the dinner table
  • The meals shared with friends
In the Bedrooms we prayed for:
  • Safety and comfort for whomever they hold
  • Joyful times, and laughter
  • We prayed for our children, who will someday live in those bedrooms. (yes you better believe that made me cry!)
On the back porch we prayed for:
  • The gatherings that would happen
  • The game nights
  • The dinners
It was beautiful. The house now feels like ours.
We walked around and got an idea of what furniture we want where and how it is going to look. We are loosing quite a bit of bedroom space but we are getting an extra room and 2 living areas!! I'm thrilled! God has truly blessed us beyond what we deserve. My biggest prayer is that we use His blessings to bless others, and that no one will ever feel uncomfortable or be turned away from our house. I want to have memories of laughter and love coming from bedrooms. I know there will be sad times, there will be overwhelming times,  but I hope that our memories are over flowing with the happy times!
